Technique

I deliver services like installing dreadlocks, but also maintaining, restoring en lengthening them. I don't use rubber bands or string when maintaining or installing dreadlocks. I use backcombing and crocheting only. By preference I don't use any products either. If I do, I only use vegan products. I try to work as pain free a possible and I take even extra care with tender scalps. If you have a tender scalp, please notify me in advance.

 

Does it hurt?

Most of my clients have little to no pain, only some discomfort in some parts like behind the ears, the temples and the crown of the head. If you are tender headed it can help to take some asperine in advance. Also make sure you are well rested. Fatigue can make you extra senstive.

My standard hourly rate is €28,50,-. I estimate the price on your preferences and then we can make a price arrangement so you'll always know what to expect after a maintenance job. Also read my "About" page and my vision upon affordability.

What I take into account:

• Installation: Type and length of hair. Preferred thickness (thin/ thick). Fringe or no fringe and/ or undercut. Partial dreads and/ or blunted tips. Installing and lengthening dreads (read more on lengthening below)

• Maintenance: Only outgrowth, only clean up loose hairs on dreads, full maintenance, restoration, blunting tips, flatten bumps. Also shaving an undercut is optional.

Lengthening dreads

Lengthening is a beautiful way to get instant long locs. I do want to note that growing your locs long is a rewarding process and feeling of achievement that is much different than instant gratification. Please bear this in mind, your locs will grow like your soul. I do understand that in some instances you want instant long locs.

You have 2 options

​

Lengthen dreads with human hair extensions on te spot.

• Because I lengthen the dreads with human hair while installing your dreads simultatiously, it will take up much more time. For a full head of dreads with extensions a minimum of 3 tot 4 days to install.

• You pay for the costs of buying the hair, making the extensions and lengthening your dreads with it. I preferabbly use second hand human hair because most human hair isn't fair trade. This is taking the middle way to making it a little more fair.

• Benefits

  • acts naturally, it will felt almost like your own hair,

  • they mature like normal dreads. They don't itch and

  • they can stay in for quite a while

• Disadvantage

  • that it's more expensive, you pay for quality 

  • longer waiting time due to custom order.

  • human hair extensions also wear out, the cheaper the hair the faster they weaken. Also maintenance has influence on this like dying, shampoos, wearing too tight or too much chrochet. Be aware that this can happen and that I am not responsible. At some point your extensions need to be replaced or strengthened.

  • The sourcing of human hair is controversial. The origin of the sourced hair and if it is sourced fair is hard to track.

Lengthen your synthetic or human hair dreads with dreadlocks you brought with you.

Benefits of synthetic dreads

• are mostly that they are much cheaper than human hair extensions.

• are great as a temporary solution until your hair is on length

Disadvantages

• plastic,

• they are more rigid,

• itchy,

• what you see is what you get. They don't act like human hair

• and you can't blowdry them with high temperatures.

• They are also heavier than human hair.
